I’m sometimes asked how I research my stories. And of course, in these wonderful days of the www.internet, the answer is obvious.
Once of a day, I would have had to visit my local library and, if I was very lucky, find a book on, for example, a beginner’s guide to hand weapons. And given my current circumstances, living in the back-of-beyond in rural Spain, finding any book in English can be a challenge.
But nowadays we have the great and glorious world-wide-web and the days when it consisted of 90% porn and not much else, are safely behind us.
Still, He has been known to look at my bookshelf, or over my shoulder when I’m reading, and shudder. “Why,” he will ask, “do you need a book on crime-scene investigation? Or the forensics of using maggots to date a murder?”
Which of course, is my cue to smile mysteriously. Or, if pursued on the subject, I’ll explain to Him that he’d best be careful to check the terms of his life insurance and be sure that he’s never worth more to me dead than alive…
Still, there are always those topics for which one does not have a handy tome on the bookshelf. And for this, we have Google. Long live Google I say.
So, after several requests for the information (Your readers have a right to know, Simone) here’s a snapshot of some of the searches I did while writing the first couple of titles in ‘The Master’s Child’ series: ‘Target’ and ‘Ransom’. It is not exhaustive; simply those I thought to jot down while I was working.
Ignore my browser history. I’m a writer, not a serial killer…
oua i adore your history broser my is what is latin world o italian geografia o italian gramatic this is me
Just thinking that if EVER your computer was perused by the Guard Civil ( that’s Spain right?) you’d have a LOT of explaining to do lol.
lol! Too right 😉
If you’re husband were to actually die suspiciously (God forbid), you are SO screwed! 😆
lol! You are so right…
LOL! I smiled and chuckled, perusing this list, recalling the scenes from Target and Ransom your searches are likely connected with. But really, ‘keep a victim conscious during torture’?? Remind me not to piss you off, Simone!
Oh, Emily – how would you ever do that? lol!
I love your work, Simone. Thank you for such exciting and fascinating books.
Thank you, Sharon, for your kind words. I’ll do my best to keep them coming 🙂
Simone
Are you sure your not being watched by a government agency?
😉
lol! Who knows?
The truth is out there…;-)
It’s always the details that keep it real.
That is certainly true 🙂
I absolutely love this list and might even ask you for some of your sites. Happy to share some of mine as there are certainly crossovers, plus I’ve got a few juicy ones for poisons, plants and ….
Happy to swap Tim. Let me know what interests you 🙂
Brilliant!!!
We aim to please 🙂
