First of all, a brief word of explanation:

‘Love By The Waters’ is a short-short read, a mere hors d’oeuvre of a story. And I should explain that it is partly autobiographical. The events told here happened many years ago when I was in my mid-thirties.

But not all of what is told in the story is true. It is partly fictionalised, an exercise in story-telling. But right here, right now, I’m not going to tell you which is which.

If you want to play a little game, you can read the story, then try to guess which parts are reality and which are fiction.

You’ll find the answer to the question in a note from me at the end of the story.
